Post Thanksgiving Blues

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday yesterday, and if you didn’t celebrate Thanksgiving I hope you had a wonderful Thursday :).  My mashed potatoes and mini pumpkin cheesecakes were a big hit with the fam (phew!) and my uncle kept a few for himself.

Before my Thursday Thanksgiving feast with my family, I had a goodbye party with my girlfriends from work.  The five of us ladies met at Alexis’s new house for an early evening of appetizers, wine, and girl talk.

Along with enjoying our wine and platters of food, there was some playtime with this little guy.

That’s me with Alexis’s new puppy Max.  He is a Chihuahua/Boston Terrier mix and the most adorable little puppy ever.  It’s going to be weird going into work every day and not seeing these girls, and I will definitely miss them, but I’ll be home again in a month so they better make time to see me!

Yesterday morning, despite still battling the cold from hell, I was up bright and early to get to work on my mashed potatoes and the finishing touches of the pumpkin cheesecakes.  The potatoes again turned out creamy and delicious, and the whipped cinnamon topping really made the cheesecakes.

My mom, sister, and I arrived at my Aunt’s house around 3:30 and immediately got to work preparing the pigs in a blanket appetizer and opening the wine :).

It was a great Thanksgiving full of my favorites, green bean casserole, mashed potatoes, stuffing, and corn.  After we were sufficiently full, it was time to retire to the couches where we watched a Taylor Swift special before finally heading home around 9 pm.  It was weird thinking about how it was my last holiday where I wouldn’t be traveling in from out of state to see my family.  For Christmas next month I’ll be one of the crazy people driving to get home by Christmas Eve.

I have some lofty goals for today, like finish (ok start) packing, going to the movies with my sister, and getting my car all packed and loaded to be ready to hit the road to VA bright and early in the morning.  EEEEK!  My beautiful Pottery Barn furniture is scheduled to arrive between 10-12, and I would really like to be there when it gets there.  I can’t believe moving day is tomorrow!

  1. Packing doesnt take too long provided you dont get distracted. That is my problem, I always get distracted. I find old things and spend half an hour looking at them. No good!

Good luck with your move!! 🙂

  2. Ooohhhh… you’re gonna love the holiday roadtripping. I always run into ice or snowstorms.

    The challenge is fun. :p

I’m glad you had a good time with the fam!

  3. Good luck with the packing and the big move!!!! Looking forward to reading all about it

  4. Coming in from out of town for the holidays is fun! Plus, people think you’re tired from the trip and let you nap on the couch!

Good luck with your move. Hope everything goes smoothly.

  5. You’re moving now, but good luck! hopefully the cheesecakes will fortify your immune system.

And we didn’t have green bean casserole this year. I was so disappointed!
