Wrapping it Up

Hello, I’m alive!  Sorry to have disappeared after my last post, but the end of the vacation got very busy.  I think I last left you on Thursday morning after my Dinner for 7 post, right?  Ok, we spent Thursday on the beach as usual, and I enjoyed my typical turkey sandwich lunch followed by some beers.  The bf and I went on a walk later in the day and took some fun pictures.

I practiced my crow pose, it’s a big accomplishment for me to be able to hold this long enough for a picture to be taken.

The adults wanted to head back to the Sunset Grille for dinner, so we all went back on Thursday night.  We ordered an array of appetizers for the seven of us, I tried to capture them before they were devoured but it was tough.

Then for my meal, I ordered the BBQ ribs, mashed potatoes, and green beans, and omg so good.

After dinner, we all went back to the house and relaxed with a few drinks before calling it a night.  That seems to have been the typical routine for the week, up early with the sun, then to bed by 11 pm.  I have absolutely no problem with that either.

Friday was bittersweet because it was our official last day, since check-out time is by 10 am on Saturday.  It again was spent at the beach, and then around 4 pm when the tide started to roll in, we moved up to the pool.  The bf and I decided to use our last night there as a date night, and we went out to The Flying Dutchman for our last dinner at the beach.

It was pretty crowded, but the bf and I were able to secure a 7:15 reservation and were seated only about 15 minutes late.  For an appetizer, we ordered the Spinach and Artichoke Crab dip.

It was alright, definitely not the best one that I’ve ever had.  Then for my meal, I ordered the Half Chicken, roasted, with mashed potatoes and corn.

Removing chicken from the bone is not exactly my strong suit, so I struggled with it a little bit, and the bf helped a little.  I ate almost all of the chicken, minus the leg and wing, because dark meat freaks me out, and all the corn and mashed potatoes.  Unfortunately, something did not agree with my stomach at all, because I got so sick on Saturday and couldn’t keep any food in my system :(.  Oh well, it still tasted good at the time.

The bf ordered a pork bbq smorgasbord.  The North and South BBQ.  Eastern NC pulled pork and bone in chop northern style with mac and cheese, and sweet potato wedges.  He wanted to take a picture of it!

The pork chop is sitting on top of the pulled pork, haha so much food.  He brought his leftovers home with us.  Then sadly, it was Saturday morning and time to pack up and head home :(.  In order to avoid the traffic we sat in on the way down, we woke up at 6 am and were on the road by 7, but first we said goodbye to the house.

Sad faces before leaving :(.  I took some last farewell shots of the house to have also.

bye pool

bye hot tub

Bye Pottery Barn furniture that I loved

and finally…

goodbye house

It was a wonderful vacation, and I’m already starting to look for houses for next year.

Our plan to hit the road early and avoid traffic worked wonderfully, and the bf and I were in VA Beach a little under two hours later.  We spend the night there (it’s where he is from) and then I drove the rest of the way home by myself yesterday afternoon.  Audio books are my new saving grace for long car trips, I listened to two on this trip.

Today I am exhausted and working hard to get back in the swing of things, sigh.  I hate when vacations are over.  If my birthday wasn’t this Sunday, I would probably be in a deep depression, but at least I still have something to look forward to.

I’m slowly going through my Google Reader and catching up on what ya’ll have been up to.  Commenting will begin again soon!  I hope everyone has a great Monday!
