Temper Tantrum

So, I might have a problem with being a little too stubborn, and often times it comes back to bite me in the ass.  This week was a perfect example.  The bf and I haven’t seen each other since the second weekend of March, so we had been planning for him to come visit me this weekend.  The original plan was for him to arrive Thursday night and stay the weekend, most likely until Monday morning.  I made us dinner reservations at a nice restaurant for Saturday night, we planned what movies we wanted to rent, blah blah blah.  Being a boy, and relatively forgetful in nature anyway, he forgot about tickets he had to go see the New York Red Bulls game on Saturday night.  Of course my immediate reaction was, “Fine see you next weekend” because I’m mature like that.  He offered to come down on Wednesday, and then stay until Saturday when he had to leave for the game, but in the midst of my temper tantrum I just kept saying no.  Then yesterday when I finally stopped being angry, was home on my couch at noon, I realized I was an idiot.  That I could have been spending time with the bf if I hadn’t acted like a 2 year-old.  Sigh.  Luckily, he is still coming down today and staying until Saturday afternoon, and the dinner reservations were easily moved to Friday night. Am I the only one?  Have any of you all thrown a fit that has backfired?

Anyway, moving on to more important things food!  Oh yeah, and a workout.  I have now officially decided that unemployed life is the life for me.  Hopefully my future husband is ok with that.  The gym yesterday at 2 pm was de light ful!  I was so overwhelmed with cardio machine choices that I didn’t know what to do with myself.  And the weights?!  I was able to get to them without winding my way through a field of over sized, tattooed, sleeveless shirt wearing, meat heads!  I did 15 minutes on the stair climber, 15 minutes walking on an incline on the treadmill, and then my upper body workout.  I was out of there by 3:30, I loved having the whole evening with nothing to do.

Despite the loads of extra time last night, I was not feeling creative in the kitchen so dinner was something that is featured here regularly.  Flat bread pizza!  I made one for both my mom and myself, and each had red pepper, green pepper, yellow pepper, spinach, onion, mozzarella cheese, and turkey pepperoni.

So good and so filling, yum!

I’m heading back to the Orthopedist today after work to complain some more about my leg and hip.  I remembered a change of clothes this time too, haha last time it was not easy for the doctor to maneuver me while wearing heels and dress pants.  Sweat pants and flip-flops for this visit.  I’m not sure what exactly I’m expecting out of this visit, maybe just a few appointments with a physical therapist to learn some strengthening and preventative exercises?  Anything to help me get better faster, it’s going on 2 months now :(.  Well, I hope everyone has a fantastic Thursday!  Only one more till the weekend!

  1. The other day I spent 20 minutes tearing the house apart for my lucky running visor that I had left on the floor of the bathroom. My husband had hung it on the doorknob of the closet for me and I was pissed. Pissed that he cleaned. Yeah…so. I hear ya.

Anyway, GAH, that pizza looks awesome. I am going to have to try that pronto.

    • Hahahaha that is totally something I would do! Fact the bf and I once got in an argument because I didn’t like the type of cooking oil he was using.

  2. I am the same way! (Not that I have a bf to act that way with, but that’s beside the point lol) But it’s good that you realized that some time is better than no time. I probably wouldn’t have until it was too late.

And I want that pizza. Now.

  3. Meh. It happens. I once threw an almost-crying tantrum to my boss when he moved my desk. It still got moved, but I managed to look like a moron/infant in the process. There’s something about not being in control that brings out the worst in me. Fortunately, I am somehow surrounded with people who have a billion times more patience than I do.

Hope the ortho appt goes well. Maybe you’ll get super sexy orthotics. Mmm.

  4. Don’t worry…I have irrational temper tantrums all the time..haha…just ask Keith!

    2 questions:
    1. How long have you been doing the long distance thing and how much longer do you have to do it?

    2. What kind of flat bread do you use for the pizza?

    • Haha glad it’s not just me.

      1. We have been doing long distance for almost a year, and depending on where he goes for law school it could potentially be 3 more years, which I am not too thrilled about.
      2. I bought it at Trader Joe’s it’s Whole Wheat Tandoori Naan Flatbread.

      • Thanks! So “BUMMER” on both things…long distance for 3 more year…eck! And darn it we don’t have a trader joes!

  5. JERK! I was supposed to go to dinner with you Saturday…good thing you told me since I reserved the evening for you. Ugh. Way to pull an Alex.

  6. AH! Temper Tantrums are what keep your relationship fresh…er something! I’m glad y’all decided on thurs-sat though.
    The pizza looks GREAT!!!

  7. that pizza looks great! i showed my mom the flat bread pizza trick too & she’s addicted! 😀

  8. Oh I’ve had the tantrums, too. And, like you, I know my stubborness is out of control at times and I make things even harder on myself in the end… blah!

  9. Back when I used to work in a restaurant (like 8 years ago), I would get mad when the customer would give me a bad tip and throw the credit card slip at my manager…..then I would have to go back and pick it up.

  10. That pizza looks SOO good!!
And I have definitely thrown my fair share of tantrums – with my ex and with my parents. I got into fights with my ex over the stupidest stuff but both of us are/were so darn stubborn that we wouldn’t back down, even after we both realized it was stupid. We fought every. single. day. It was horrible. Needless to say, we broke up after 4 years. Fighting is so stupid.. it just drains you and your relationship. Ok moving on now…

I’m sending well wishes your way with the appt!!!!!!! Fingers crossed dear!!

    • Yeah my ex and I fought non stop at the end of our relationship, no good, it’s so draining and exhausting. Thanks for the well wishes!

  11. I totally feel you on this one! My bf lives in NJ and sometimes if things don’t go exactly as I had planned I revert back to the attitude of a snotty 13 year girl. Good to know we’re all not alone!! 🙂

  12. Yes, I try to be reasonable but sometimes my emotions get the best of me. It’s a girl thing I think!!

  13. I throw fits on a regular basis. If it isnt my way its WRONG. My poor boyfriend – he’s a little hockey obsessed and has spent more Saturday nights at hockey than with me. Im not exactly understanding about it.

    • Oooh my ex was in a roller hockey league (not real hockey at all) and I used to get so mad when games interfered with “date night”.

  14. Oh I can be such a temper tantrum thrower! It’s like once something starts going wrong, I just want to ruin it completely and make the whole thing worse. Things not going my way can really upset me and I am stubborn. You are not alone, my friend!
And every time you post those flat bread pizzas I make a mental note that I need one. They look so good. I love peperoni. So much flavor in those little red rounds!
    Good luck at the orthopedist!!

  15. As long as you have some other source of income, being unemployed is amazing. Minus the minor stress of finding a new job in this economy, my few months as an unemployed (yet still severance-receiving attorney) were BLISSFUL. I slept in, got coffee, sent off some resumes, went for a jog in the park, went to the dog park, went to a spin class, eat something delish, took a nap, and then got ready in time to meet my working friends out on the town.

Severance + warm weather = AMAZING.

    • Yeah, I think I would definitely try to plan any unemployment stints around the summertime, haha. Is it sad that unemployment almost equals my weekly salary anyway? Pretty sure I could survive on that for awhile.

  16. Oh also, being unemployed also included (embarrassingly) way too much Dr. Phil watching.
